Abubakar Mumbu Idris

Abubakar Mumbu Idris is a Programme Associate, DEI and Deaf-in-Tech Instructor at Data-Lead Africa. He is a Data Analyst with over three years of experience in analyzing data for non-profits and private companies. His work focuses on turning data into insights that help organizations make better decisions and work more efficiently.

Abubakar holds a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in Economics and Special Education from Niger State College of Education, Minna, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and International Studies from the University of Ilorin.

Before joining Data-Lead Africa, Abubakar participated in a graduate remote internship with Dataville Research LLC, where he gained simulated field experience in international development practices while working in remote settings. He also worked with the Deaf Women Aloud Initiative (DWAI) on gender and disability rights advocacy, contributing significantly to promoting inclusivity and rights for marginalized communities.

Abubakar co-founded Young Advocates for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future (YASIF), a youth-led organization in Nigeria that aims to empower and mobilize young people to contribute to the UN SDGs by 2030. YASIF prioritizes inclusivity and equal access to opportunities, believing that everyone has a role in achieving sustainability. Additionally, he serves as the Assistant Secretary General of the Abuja Association of the Deaf (AAD) since August 2020.

He is an alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in training and development, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools. Abubakar’s commitment to enhancing DEI initiatives and supporting the Deaf-in-Tech community makes him an invaluable asset to Data-Lead Africa.
